Obituary for Paul David Lamoreau, Jr.

PRESQUE ISLE - Paul David Lamoreau, Jr., 58, passed away on November 6, 2018 in Presque Isle, Maine.  Paul was born in Presque Isle on May 25, 1960 to Paul David Lamoreau Sr., and Marilyn (Graffam) Lamoreau Clark.

He attended Presque Isle schools and received his certificate in Carpentry at Northern Maine Community College and a BA in English at the University of Maine in 1985.  In 1985, he also married his soul mate, Nadine (Hay) and began his 31 year teaching career at Fort Fairfield, where he taught seventh grade Language Arts and Social Studies.  He was Teacher of the Year for the 2004-2005 school year.  In addition to teaching he coached.  He was a basketball coach early in his career, where his chief rival was his father –in-law, Bill Hay and his chief mentor was his stepfather Ken Clark.  He also coached cross country running for many years, the highlight of which was bringing one of his runners to the New Englands.  He coached cross country skiing for 31years and had a state champion in whom he was inordinately proud. He was currently in his second year teaching eighth grade Language Arts and Social Studies at Presque Isle Middle School.

Paul had many passions, including running, cross country skiing, and biking.  He was a proud member of the Arooostook Musterds and was the BULL for many years.  He directed the Fort Fairfield Potato Blossom Five Miler Road Race for 31 years.  He was a member of the Nordic Heritage Center for many years and served on its Board.  He loved helping with all of the events and being able to meet elite skiers. He participated in the Trek Across Maine several times and biked by himself from Fort Kent to Kittery on his 50th birthday

Paul really loved adventure, fun, his family and friends and LIFE! His self deprecating sense of humor, optimism, kindness and empathy were the touchstones of his life.  He always took great care of the people he loved, and he positively impacted many lives.  He will be greatly missed by his wife, his mother, parents-in-law, his sister and his special niece and nephew, as well as his many other family and friends.  He was predeceased by his father Paul and his brothers-in-law Gordon Hay and Greg Carter.

Friends and family may call on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Duncan Graves Funeral Home from 6:00 -8:00pm.  A funeral service will be held at the Presque Isle Congregational Church at 11:00 am on Monday, November 12, 2018 with Pastor Tim Stohlberg officiating.  In lieu of flowers, consider giving to your charity of choice or consider donating to the Paul Lamoreau Memorial Scholarship; c/o Fort Fairfield Guidance Department, Fort Fairfield, ME.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at
